Cleaner for EVA based hot melt adhesives

Determelt 1 is a wax based cleaner which is ideally suitable for use in hot applicator systems such as jetting, daubers, wheels or premelters. Determelt 1 is specifically designed for removing EVA hot melt adhesives, which are typically pastilated products.

Principles of use

Before attempting to clean any hot applicator, you should refer to the safety procedure issued by the equipment manufacturer. Hot melt adhesives and hot cleaning materials can give severe burns. You should ensure that the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is used. Please refer to the Determelt 1 Health & Safety Data Sheet for more information.

Instructions for use

1. Drain system of all existing hot melt.
2. Fill tank with Determelt 1 and heat to 100°C -140°C.
• For jetting systems, if possible circulate the cleaner by placing the gun over the open tank for up to 4 hours.
• For wheel and dauber applicators fill the pots and once melted run the machine to agitate the cleaner. For premelters, simply leave to soak.
3. Drain the system and fill with fresh hot melt (1/3 of the tank capacity) and heat to between 120°C and 140°C.
4. Drain again to eliminate any undissolved material and residual cleaner.
5. Refill with fresh hot melt and return the temperatures to the application temperature before production begins.
