Cleaner for rubber or polyolefin based hot melt adhesives

Determelt 2 is an oil based cleaner which is suitable for use in hot applicator systems  such as jetting systems, daubers, wheels or premelters. Determelt 2 is specifically designed to clean rubber or polyolefin hot melt adhesives that are typically supplied in Easy-Melt packaging.

Principles of use

Before attempting to clean any hot applicator, you should refer to the Safety procedure issued by the equipment manufacturer. Hot melt adhesives and hot cleaning materials can give severe burns. You should ensure that you use the appropriate derrsonal protection equipment (PPE) and please refer to the Determelt 2 Health & Safety Data Sheet.

Instructions for use

1. Drain system of existing hot melt, fill tank with Determelt 2 and heat to 140°C-160°C.
   • For jetting systems, if possible circulate the cleaner by placing the gun over the open tank for up to 4 hours.
   • For wheel and dauber applicators fill the pots and once at temperature idle the machine to agitate the cleaner.
   • For premelters, simply leave to soak.
2. Drain the system and refill with fresh hot melt (1/3 of the tank capacity) and heat to between 120°C -140°C
3. Drain again to eliminate any undissolved material and residual cleaner.
4. Refill with your traditional hot melt and return the temperatures to the adhesive application temperature before production begins.
