All hot melt adhesives require careful handling. Some simple guidelines for the optimum and safe use of hot melts are listed below, but if you need more information, then please contact us. The correct use of your hot melt adhesive will ensure the safety of your operators and the quality of your products, as well as improving the working environment. Please ensure you refer to the Technical and Safety data sheets.
Keep an eye on the running temperature of the hot melt. If it is too high, the open time will increase, and if the temperature is too low, open time will become too short. The machine settings will drift from those set by the operator and the quality of your product could be affected.
Keep the tank full; top up regularly with small quantities of adhesive. This will avoid charring around the heated parts of the equipment.
Avoid skin contact with the hot adhesive. See the further information on first aid for hot melt burns
The vapours and odours formed at elevated temperatures may be irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract. We recommend good ventilation of the hot melt equipment area.
By following this simple advice, the operators can easily monitor the hot melt application and your products will meet your customers’ requirements. |
