National 135B was specifically developed for Tetra Pak’s SlimCap opening system and is the only hot melt adhesive with Tetra Pak global approval for bonding SlimCap closures onto aseptic packaging.

The SlimCap opening system is one of Tetra Pak’s newest innovations and is a completely resealable closure based on PullTab technology. It consists of a screw cap and ring-pull attached to a standard PullTab opening made of PE/aluminium foil.

Only National 135B is recommended for SlimCap due to its much higher cold resistance properties than competing grades.

SlimCap is a very challenging adhesive application as the adhesive must securely bond the Polypropylene SlimCap to the Polyethylene coated board and the PullTab onto the ring-pull. Moreover, the bonds must be maintained under chilled storage conditions. The hot melt’s unique performance characteristics ensure excellent package integrity during its useable life.

The rheology profile enables a very clean adhesive application, and typically most users only clean their machine every 48 hours or more. Furthermore this rheology profile ensures excellent adhesive ‘wet-out’ onto the substrates resulting in a very secure bond at both extremes of end-user conditions.
